(Chinhphu.vn) \u2013 The My Thuan Project Management Board and contractors are accelerating construction progress and completing the Rach Mieu bridge by April 30th. This is an important prerequisite for completing and opening the project to traffic before September 2nd. This is also one of 50 projects selected by the Government to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of the My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction), said: The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will officially be completed on April 19th, about 4 months ahead of the original plan. After the main span is completed, the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge will be put into operation in August 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exceeding the planned schedule for 5%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reportedly, the entire project has completed 851 TP2T of work to date, exceeding the overall progress by more than 51 TP2T compared to the plan. In particular, the main bridge section of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is ahead of schedule by more than 151 TP2T.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the contractor has installed the 112th\/112 cable-stayed bridge bundle and completed 13\/14 main bridge deck casting blocks. Regarding the road section, contractors are working on the entire 14\/14km route, laying asphalt concrete in segments, and will complete the entire section on the Ben Tre side before June 30, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, is one of the nation's key transportation projects. It not only helps meet the increasing transportation demands on National Highway 60, relieving pressure on the existing Rach Mieu Bridge, but also promotes socio-economic development and ensures national defense and security for provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region in particular and the whole country in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is located approximately 4km upstream from the existing bridge on the Tien River. Its starting point connects to the Dong Tam intersection (the junction between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province; its end point connects to National Highway 60 in Ben Tre City, 700m from the Ham Luong Bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main spans of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge, over 1.9km long, are designed as cable-stayed bridges, with towers reaching 113m in height. The bridge has 4 lanes with a width of 21.5m and a design speed of 80km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project has a total investment of over 6,800 billion VND, commenced in March 2022, and is expected to be completed in early 2026. Recently, after directly inspecting the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that the project be completed ahead of schedule to be ready for the National Day on September 2, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
