To complete the expressway on schedule by the end of this year, construction units have introduced vacuum technology into the foundation loading phase to shorten the settlement waiting time. On June 27th, Mr. Pham Van Dong \u2013 Deputy Commander of Construction Corporation No. 1 \u2013 JSC (CC1) \u2013 stated that despite the peak of the rainy season and numerous weather-related difficulties, the construction unit has increased shifts and work schedules to compensate for the missed deadlines in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"Initially, there were difficulties with material supply, so there wasn't enough to apply the required load. The unit switched to vacuum pumping for load application to reduce the settlement waiting time from 9 months to 4 months compared to the original plan."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This method involves laying an airtight membrane to pump out all the water, ensuring a quick loading time. On the construction site, some sections are experiencing difficulties with 3-phase electricity to operate the pumping system, but the contractor has also mobilized high-capacity generators to operate the pumps and drain the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, more than 3.3km of section XL03 (the final section of the expressway located in Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau province) has been constructed using this new method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board (the investor of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project, which has a main route of over 110km and more than 25km of connecting routes), contractors are currently focusing resources on organizing overtime work shifts day and night to accelerate progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction output has exceeded the planned 681 TP2T. Of this, 92km of the main route is undergoing load testing according to the design, and 95 out of 95 bridges have been constructed, with 85 bridges having completed their decks and 2 bridges having been paved with asphalt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, the project has completed all the sand embankment work to allow for settlement, and some sections have already had the load removed to prepare for asphalt concrete pavement construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuong \u2013 a technical officer working on the final section of the Can Tho \u2013 Ca Mau expressway (XL03) \u2013 said that these days the team is working day and night. Despite the high workload, the team remains cheerful and enthusiastic, hoping for the project to be completed as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe team works according to the principle that if daytime work isn't enough, we take advantage of nighttime work, braving the sun and rain to bring the project to completion ahead of schedule. Each day there are three shifts from 6 am to midnight, and some tasks, like operating the vacuum pumps, are performed continuously day and night,\u201d Mr. Tuong said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, contractors are carrying out construction in a phased manner, working on sections where asphalt concrete has been laid, and constructing the bridge's fences and railings. They are determined to complete the entire project and ensure it is ready for inauguration before December 19th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Can Tho \u2013 Ca Mau expressway construction site, contractors are deploying 234 construction teams and 2,881 personnel, along with 926 pieces of equipment and machinery, to carry out several construction items such as unloading, constructing crushed stone base layers for the road surface, constructing transverse drainage culverts, laying asphalt concrete, and completing bridge construction.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
