CC1 and the University of Technology – VNU-HCM complete an intensive training program on high-speed rail.


Construction Corporation No. 1 – JSC (CC1) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology – VNU-HCM (HCMUT) recently jointly organized the closing ceremony of the intensive training program “High-Speed Rail – Urban Rail”, marking an important step in the cooperation between the university and businesses in developing high-quality human resources for the field of modern transportation infrastructure.

After 400 hours of training, the intensive training program "High-Speed Rail - Urban Rail" held its closing ceremony on September 18, 2020.6

Accordingly, after 400 hours of training, 22 CC1 trainees completed all 12 in-depth modules of the program and were certified as completed by the University of Technology, receiving certificates. 

The program, funded at VND 1 billion, is part of a comprehensive cooperation agreement between CC1 and the University of Technology (UTF) worth USD 1 million over 5 years focusing on human resource training, scientific research, technology transfer in the construction sector, and student support; with the Faculty of Civil Engineering – UFT being the organizing unit. The program focuses on in-depth knowledge of high-speed rail, urban rail, and metro tunnel construction. The main objective is to help learners apply interdisciplinary knowledge between construction, transportation, and geotechnical engineering to the design, construction, organization, management, and implementation of advanced railway projects.

Through this program, trainees not only gain additional professional knowledge but also acquire a new mindset regarding railway projects, laying the foundation for gradually participating in work related to the preparation, design, construction, and management of modern railway projects in the future.

Emphasizing the culture of "learning by doing and continuously improving competence," Mr. Le Bao Anh – General Director of CC1 – expressed his appreciation for the partnership with the University of Technology and leading experts. This is the initial fruit of the comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two units, bringing the training model closer to the practical needs of businesses. Viewing the first training course as a starting point for further development of subsequent programs, he stressed: "Knowledge that isn't put into practice quickly disappears. This collaboration needs to go beyond training: from applied research and technology transfer to jointly solving major engineering problems for future infrastructure projects."

Sharing his vision for CC1, Mr. Le Bao Anh emphasized: “This is the time for us to begin building a new capacity: deeper involvement, greater ownership, and moving towards assuming higher-value roles in the high-speed rail and urban rail sectors. New development space is opening up, but opportunities don’t automatically translate into capacity. Opportunities only truly belong to businesses that prepare early enough, systematically enough, and persistently enough.”

Mr. Le Bao Anh – General Director of CC1, speaking at the event, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration of the University of Technology and leading experts in the field.

According to CC1's leadership, the company's long-term goal is to gradually build its capacity to participate at a higher level – from engineering, technology, and construction organization to project management and integration under the EPC model.

“To reach that goal, the first step is not to purchase equipment, but to invest in people. Machinery can be bought, technology can be transferred, standards can be learned, but a team of engineers who truly understand the technical aspects, from diaphragm walls, underground stations, viaducts, TBMs to power supply systems, rail signaling, and are capable of managing EPC projects, cannot be formed overnight. CC1 chooses to prepare its workforce before the project arrives, rather than waiting until a project comes along to scramble for the necessary capabilities.”"That's what Mr. Le Bao Anh affirmed."

According to Associate Professor Tran Thien Phuc, Vice Rector of the University of Technology, this training program is clear evidence and creates a solid foundation for the university and CC1 to continue expanding comprehensive cooperation: from training and professional development, human resource development to research and technological innovation in the future. A special feature of the course is the two-way exchange, where both lecturers and students share experiences and practical problems.

Associate Professor Tran Thien Phuc – Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Science and Technology – highly appreciated the value that the "High-Speed Railway - Urban Railway" training program brings.

We believe that the trainees will effectively apply this knowledge to specific projects, successfully solving practical technical and construction management problems at CC1. In the future, you will be the core professional personnel, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and building a high-quality workforce for the enterprise in particular and the Vietnamese transportation infrastructure industry in general.", Mr. Phuc said.

Mr. Duong Xuan Sang, representing the trainees who have completed the intensive training program "High-Speed Railways - Urban Railways," shared his thoughts.

In recent years, CC1, as one of Vietnam's top construction contractors, has demonstrated its commitment through continuous investment in human resources, science and technology, and international cooperation. Looking ahead, CC1 also stated that it will continue to expand cooperation with specialized universities nationwide, building a highly skilled workforce to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of modern and integrated infrastructure development, in the context of the country's strong transformation as it enters a new era of national progress.

Recently, CC1 also launched its Professional Training Center and commenced the K01 Professional Training Course, marking a systematic step in developing high-quality professional human resources. The core objective of this training strategy is to help CC1 master a high-quality QA/QC and QS engineering workforce, ready to promptly meet the needs of key projects nationwide. Focusing on nurturing a new generation of young engineers not only strengthens superior execution capabilities on construction sites but is also a strategic step to affirm CC1's sustainable position in the future.

Within the framework of the program, CC1 and the University of Technology also introduced the book "High-speed rail and urban rail technology"This book is a compilation of professional knowledge, practical experience, and content shared by the faculty and experts throughout the program."

Beyond being a reference document for learning and research, this book also contributes to continuing and disseminating the knowledge values formed from the program to the community of people interested in the railway field. Through this, the knowledge and experience exchanged during the training process are systematized and continue to accompany learners, while expanding the scope of access to individuals and organizations interested in high-speed rail and urban rail.
