CC1 PARTICIPATED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEARLY 1,000 BILLION VND PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE ACROSS THE SAIGON RIVER

The pedestrian bridge over the Saigon River is inspired by the shape of a nipa palm leaf – a common plant closely associated with the Southern region of Vietnam.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, 80 key national projects and major construction works were simultaneously launched and inaugurated nationwide.

Construction Corporation No. 1 – JSC (CC1) continues to affirm its pioneering role by partnering with many large-scale projects of strategic significance.

CC1 is the contractor involved in the construction of the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River, sponsored by Nutifood.

This past April, CC1 was present at several important milestones: the inauguration of Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3, the commencement of construction of Dong Hoi Airport Terminal 2, and the completion of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge.

Currently, the company is constructing a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River – a new iconic landmark of Ho Chi Minh City – with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND.

Pedestrian bridge costing nearly 1 trillion VND across the Saigon River – A new iconic landmark of the city.

The pedestrian bridge over the Saigon River is inspired by the shape of a water coconut leaf – a common plant closely associated with the Southern region of Vietnam. The soft design of the leaf, seemingly floating gently on the river, evokes the familiar beauty of the riverine landscape and symbolizes the connection between the past, present, and future of Ho Chi Minh City.

The unique shape of the coconut leaf is not only a cultural symbol but also creates a cool and airy surface for the bridge, expanding the view for pedestrians and enhancing the urban landscape experience.

The bridge design was carried out by a consortium of Chodai – Takashi Niwa Architects and Chodai Kisojiban Vietnam, achieving the highest score in the architectural design selection process.

The pedestrian bridge over the Saigon River has a total length of approximately 400m and a width of 4.5m. It is designed with a lightweight steel structure and a winding curve, creating a modern and impressive appearance.

The pedestrian bridge project includes the following components: the main bridge, approach bridges and access roads, anti-collision pillars, traffic lighting system, demolition costs, riverbank embankment, and elevators.

With a total length of approximately 261m, the bridge features a 187m long cable-stayed arch main span, steel girders, and a cross-section varying from 7-11m. The bridge is designed with a navigable clearance of 80m x 10m, ensuring ample space for waterway traffic.

In this project, CC1 is responsible for the construction of the approach bridge and approach roads. The approach bridge utilizes reinforced concrete box girder and steel girder structures. The abutments are reinforced concrete on bored pile foundations, and the approach roads feature reinforced concrete retaining walls and reinforced retaining walls on cement-stabilized soil pile foundations (CDM).

The bridge directly connects Nguyen Hue pedestrian street and Bach Dang wharf park (District 1) with Thu Thiem riverside park (Thu Duc City), opening up a new, friendly, and safe public space for people.

The bridge's infrastructure includes basic elements such as traffic lighting, drainage, and elevators, and is further enhanced with artistic lighting and a unique recirculating waterfall.

These unique designs not only ensure convenience for users but also serve as an attractive feature, promising to become an appealing destination for both residents of Ho Chi Minh City and tourists.

Besides its function as a transportation link, the bridge also contributes to promoting tourism, trade, and the sustainable development of the city. The pedestrian bridge is expected to be completed and officially put into operation on April 30, 2026.

CC1 is a pioneer in constructing key national projects.

CC1 continues to affirm its pioneering position in the construction industry with superior construction capabilities, enduring reputation, and extensive experience in the construction, operation, and exploitation of civil, industrial, energy, transportation, and infrastructure projects in Vietnam.

The artistic lighting system highlights the bridge, creating an impressive focal point at night.

Along with the ongoing pedestrian bridge project across the Saigon River, CC1 is also present in many key projects in Ho Chi Minh City.

Specifically, Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3 – where CC1 was responsible for constructing items such as the passenger terminal (PTB), multi-story parking garage (PNA), and auxiliary facilities, passenger jet bridge system (PBB), baggage conveyor system (BHS), and steel structure – officially commenced operation on April 17th.

Meanwhile, the Phu Tho Circus and Multi-Purpose Performance Hall construction project is expected to be completed and put into operation next June.

The Phu Tho Circus and Multipurpose Performance Hall project, in which CC1 is involved in construction, is expected to be one of the city's new, exemplary cultural institutions of international caliber.

This series of events not only strengthens infrastructure connectivity but also marks a significant milestone in CC1's development journey. Simultaneously participating in the construction of three key projects in Ho Chi Minh City, ranging from urban transportation to cultural and performing arts spaces, CC1 continues to affirm its pioneering role in developing comprehensive and sustainable infrastructure.

These projects are symbols of innovation, clear evidence of the capabilities, sense of responsibility, and impact that CC1 is leaving on its journey to contribute to building a modern and civilized city, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

The Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal, in which CC1 participated in the construction, has accelerated its progress towards completion two months ahead of schedule to celebrate the April 30th holiday.

In addition to the projects mentioned above, over the years, CC1 has participated in a series of other key national projects such as: Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal, Long Thanh International Airport, the North-South expressways, Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), Na Duong II Thermal Power Plant, Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, Thu Thiem Bridge, Tien Giang Provincial General Hospital, Long Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, Package 4 - National Highway 5 upgrade project in Cambodia…

By applying innovative solutions and advanced technologies to complex engineering projects, CC1 is not only committed to ensuring quality and progress but also making a strong contribution to national infrastructure development and sustainable urban development.

Each completed project is a living testament to the CC1 team's ability to overcome technical challenges, as well as their unwavering dedication.

With 45 years of formation and development, and immense potential, CC1 is gradually realizing its aspiration to become a leading Investment and Construction Group in Vietnam and a professional international contractor, in harmony with the nation's era of progress.
