FIRST OIL BURNING CEREMONY FOR UNIT 1: A MAJOR STEP FORWARD IN CC1'S FIRST EPC GENERAL CONTRACTOR JOINT VENTURE WITH MITSUBISHI AND HYUNDAI

On August 18th, in Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province, the first oil burning ceremony for Boiler Unit No. 1 of the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant project took place in a proud and enthusiastic atmosphere, practically celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

As the unit directly involved in the construction, Construction Corporation No. 1 (CC1) has contributed to creating a project that not only signifies a significant milestone in the energy sector but also serves as a vivid testament to the company's capabilities, prestige, and pioneering spirit associated with national-scale projects.

Notably, the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant is the first project in which CC1 participated as a joint venture EPC general contractor with Hyundai E&C Group (South Korea) and Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan).

The completion of the first oil firing of boiler No. 1 is a major milestone before the project moves to the unit commissioning phase, aiming for synchronization by the end of 2025 and commercial power generation in 2026.

The Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant is considered a key project, contributing significantly to supplementing the national power grid and ensuring energy needs for socio-economic development. The project has received special attention from the Government, ministries, agencies, Quang Tri province, and the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). Upon completion, the project will not only be significant for energy security but also promises to become a powerful driving force for annual economic growth in Quang Tri province and the entire North Central region.

The project has a total investment of over 42,000 billion VND, comprising 2 coal-fired power plants with a total capacity of 1,403 MW.
This is currently the largest thermal power plant in Vietnam in terms of capacity.
This project utilizes USC (Ultra-Supercritical) technology, also known as supercritical fluid, delivering high efficiency and environmental friendliness.
The project is expected to produce over 9 billion kWh per year, contributing approximately 1,200 billion VND to the state budget annually and creating stable jobs for thousands of local workers.
When put into operation before the hot season of 2026, the plant will increase the stability of the national power system and reduce the pressure on the entire grid's supply.
The plant is equipped with a comprehensive wastewater treatment, exhaust gas treatment, and dust filtration system; the emission indicators after treatment all meet Vietnamese environmental standards, equivalent to World Bank (WB) standards.

At the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, CC1 is constructing many key components with high technical requirements and strict safety and environmental standards. Each project is not only a testament to CC1's professional organizational capacity, discipline, and pioneering spirit in creating sustainable value for the country, but is also clearly affirmed by the first oil firing of Unit 1 – a milestone recognizing the persistent efforts of CC1's engineers and workers, and reflecting the spirit of "Accelerating, Breaking Through," "Overcoming the sun and rain" of the project management team, contractors, and workers in conquering each important milestone.

For nearly half a century, CC1 has made its mark on a series of key national energy projects such as the Tri An Hydropower Plant, Phu My Thermal Power Plant, Nhon Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant, Na Duong II Thermal Power Plant, and Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant…. These exemplary projects have built a solid foundation for CC1 to become a reliable partner, always chosen for strategic energy projects of the country.
