CONNECTING ROAD FROM AN PHU INTERSECTION MOVES PROGRESS, READY FOR LONG THANH AIRPORT'S COMMERCIAL OPERATION.

After 8 months of construction, the project to expand the road connecting the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh expressway to improve access to Long Thanh airport has reached nearly 60%.

Continuing to document the progress in infrastructure connecting to Long Thanh International Airport, reporters were present at the construction site of the project to expand the road connecting the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway (section from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2).

Construction began in late November 2025, and the 3.2km project is being expanded from 4 to 8 lanes, with a roadbed width of 36m. After nearly 8 months of construction, many key components have taken shape, with a production output of nearly 60%, aiming for completion by the end of 2026.

The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway is being implemented by Ho Chi Minh City, with the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Works (Transportation Board) as the investor.

Following this section is the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway expansion project, from the Ring Road 2 interchange to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway interchange. This 22.9km project is invested in by the Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Corporation (VEC), and construction progress has currently reached approximately 581km.

According to the plan, Long Thanh Airport will begin commercial operation on December 1, 2026. With the current connecting infrastructure, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh expressway will be the main route handling traffic from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh Airport and vice versa.

This also necessitates the simultaneous completion of projects along the entire corridor from the An Phu interchange to Long Thanh airport, including the An Phu interchange, the connecting road to the expressway, and the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh expressway.
