Recently, at the headquarters of Construction Corporation No. 1 – JSC (CC1), Shimizu Group (Japan) awarded CC1 the Chairman's Award, recognizing its outstanding efforts and results in occupational safety and site hygiene throughout the construction of items belonging to the Metro Line 1 project (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien line).
This award is a recognition and appreciation from Shimizu Corporation – one of the four largest construction corporations in Japan, with over 200 years of development. Shimizu is renowned for its complex engineering projects, demanding safety and quality standards, and for pioneering the application of world-leading modern construction technologies.
The fact that CC1 received an award for site safety and hygiene from the Chairman of Shimizu Corporation not only affirms its effective construction organization and site management capabilities and strict adherence to safety standards, but also demonstrates the trust that a reputable international corporation places in the Vietnamese contractor.
The award is all the more meaningful as it is presented within the framework of the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line, a key urban infrastructure project with high technical requirements, large volume, and complex construction conditions right in the heart of the city.
In package CP1b, CC1 is responsible for the construction of permanent structures for three main items: City Theatre Station, Ba Son Station, and the open-cut and cover tunnel section. These are all special-grade projects, constructed under conditions of limited space and high traffic volume, requiring optimal technical solutions and strict safety control.
At the City Theatre Station – a special-grade project in the heart of the bustling city – CC1 implemented the Semi Top-down construction method to shorten the timeline and ensure safety under conditions of limited space and heavy traffic.
Specifically for the Cut & Cover tunnel section, the entire construction process is carried out within a closed cofferdam system, under strict supervision regarding environmental standards, quality, and occupational safety throughout the project.
In addition to undertaking projects with high technical requirements, CC1 also demonstrates a sense of responsibility in workplace safety and environmental protection.
The unit applies a safety and environmental management system in accordance with international standards OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2015; and strictly adheres to the site safety and hygiene management plan approved by the main contractor SMJO (Shimizu – Maeda), as well as current project safety standards and legal regulations.
On the construction site, all work is thoroughly reviewed before implementation: risk assessment, work permit issuance (PTW), regular safety meetings, and comprehensive training for all staff and workers. CC1's technical and safety teams are always on hand to supervise and ensure that procedures are followed correctly.
Having gone through more than 46 years of formation and development, CC1 has gradually affirmed its position as one of the pioneering units in the field of infrastructure construction in Vietnam, especially in complex technical projects with strict requirements for progress and quality.
Continuously accumulating experience and enhancing its reputation through each project, CC1 has made its mark on a series of key national projects such as: Tan Son Nhat T3 Terminal, Long Thanh International Airport, the North-South Expressway, Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), Na Duong II Thermal Power Plant, Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant, Thu Thiem Bridge, Tien Giang General Hospital, Long Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, and the upgrade project of National Highway 5 in Cambodia…

CC1 consistently made its mark with a series of prestigious awards in the first half of 2025.
In just the first six months of 2025, CC1 was consistently recognized in numerous prestigious rankings in the construction and real estate industry.
Specifically, at the end of June, CC1 was named in the Top 10 Green ESG Enterprises in Vietnam 2025 – Construction industry (ESG10) and Top 10 Innovative & Efficient Business Enterprises 2025 – Real Estate & Construction industry (VIE10) organized by the Finance & Investment Newspaper in collaboration with Viet Research.
Earlier, at the end of March, Vietnam Report announced the ranking of "Top 10 reputable infrastructure and industrial construction contractors in 2025," in which CC1 excellently held the leading position in the entire industry.
