CAN THO – CA MAU EXPRESSWAY OFFICIALLY OPENS FOR TECHNICAL TRAFFIC

On December 19, 2025, the Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway was officially inaugurated and opened for technical traffic, marking the connection of the entire Eastern North-South expressway from Lang Son to the southernmost point of the country. Participating in the construction of this key national project, Construction Corporation No. 1 – JSC (CC1) contributed to the completion of the project, affirming its capabilities and mark on the country's strategic infrastructure projects.

The Can Tho – Hau Giang and Hau Giang – Ca Mau expressways are two important component projects of the North-South Expressway Eastern section construction project, phase 2021–2025, with My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) as the investor. The entire route has a total length of 110.87 km, with a total investment of over 27,500 billion VND, passing through Can Tho City, An Giang province, and Ca Mau province. It is being developed in phases with 4 lanes, a design speed of 100 km/h, and a synchronized intelligent transportation system and non-stop toll collection.

The Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway, viewed from above, runs through the waterways of the Mekong Delta, opening up a strategic transportation link for the Southwest region of Vietnam.

Participating in the project under the unique conditions of the Mekong Delta region, CC1 proactively mobilized resources, a team of skilled engineers, technical staff, and workers, along with a system of modern machinery and equipment, and organized construction scientifically and flexibly according to each stage.

Throughout the implementation process, CC1's units consistently adhered to technical requirements, schedules, and safety standards, coordinating closely with the investor, supervisory consultant, and relevant contractors to ensure construction efficiency and project quality.

Representatives from the Board of Directors and the CC1 team participated in the inauguration ceremony for the technical opening of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway.

The project faced numerous challenges, including limited landfill materials, complex geological conditions, and prolonged adverse weather. Despite these obstacles, the CC1 team maintained a spirit of perseverance and worked in shifts, operating three times a day and four teams, throughout the construction site.

The timely adjustment of construction methods and flexibility in production organization helped CC1 complete the items under its responsibility on schedule, making a significant contribution to the overall result when the entire route met the conditions for technical traffic opening as directed by the Government.

According to information from the My Thuan Project Management Board, the Can Tho – Hau Giang section of the project was inaugurated on December 19, 2025. Based on the operational plan, the expressway was expected to be put into use from 9:00 AM on December 20; however, in order to ensure that site clearing, equipment recovery, and dismantling on the construction site are carried out fully and safely, the official opening date has been adjusted to 9:00 AM on December 22, 2025.

According to the master plan, after the Hau Giang – Ca Mau section undergoes technical opening, the remaining items will be completed to put the entire route into official operation from December 31, 2025.

Upon completion, the expressway will not only significantly shorten travel time and reduce logistics costs for goods, agricultural products, and seafood in the Mekong Delta region, but also open up new development opportunities for the economy, tourism, and trade, and enhance national defense and security in the Southwest region.

Contributing to the construction and completion of the Can Tho – Ca Mau expressway is another important milestone in CC1's journey of accompanying key national transportation infrastructure projects. This is not only a source of pride for the entire team of CC1's staff, engineers, and workers who have worked tirelessly on the construction site, but also affirms CC1's capabilities, reputation, and long-term commitment to creating modern, sustainable infrastructure projects that make a practical contribution to the country's development.

Furthermore, on December 19th, a series of key projects in which CC1 participated in construction simultaneously marked important milestones, from the first technical flight at the Long Thanh Airport Construction Investment Project – Phase 1, the inauguration ceremony of the Dak Nong General Hospital upgrade project, to the technical opening of the Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot expressway, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Youth Cultural Center construction project,… thereby further affirming CC1's capabilities and mark on key national infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
